An important update about letter writing at Letters of Hope
We have made the incredibly difficult decision to pause our letter writing activities for now. This means we are no longer accepting new volunteer letters to our PO Box while we assess our capacity and funding situation, and continue to do all that we can to keep our important work going.
Letters of Hope has always run on a huge amount of heart and a very small budget. Right now, we simply do not have the resources to continue coordinating the service in a way that ensures quality, safety and sustainability.
If you have already written letters, you are absolutely welcome to send them to our PO Box as usual. We will continue to match and post any letters we receive that have already been written while we work through what comes next.
If you would like to stay involved during this pause, here are a few powerful ways to help:
Share your story in our testimonial competition
We are inviting our community to film or voice record a short message about what Letters of Hope has meant to them. Whether you are a volunteer, recipient or supporter, your story could help others understand the impact of this work.
One lucky winner will receive a $100 visa card. Entries close 30 June 2025.
Prefer to write something instead?
Whilst written entries won't be a part of the competition, we would still love a short written testimonial. These may be shared on social media, in funding proposals or on our website.
You can send your message to info@lettersofhope.care
Prompt to get started: "If you could tell someone why Letters of Hope should continue, what would you say?"
Write a Letter to a Leader
Another powerful way you can help is by writing a Letter to a Leader. We have created a template you can use to contact community leaders who may have the ability to support us.
This includes your local MP, but also other influential people such as your local Primary Health Network, city or regional council, Rotary or Lions Club, or any philanthropic or community organisation that supports mental health and wellbeing.
The letter is already written for you. All you need to do is personalise the highlighted sections with your name and the leader’s contact details.
Once you have sent your letter, please forward any responses you receive to abbie@lettersofhope.care so we can keep track of our outreach and follow up if needed.

This is not where we imagined we would be. But your kindness, your words, and your belief in this mission have carried us further than we ever thought possible.
Thank you for being part of this community. Whatever happens next, the impact you’ve had will always matter.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Abbie Williams
